Throw your espadrilles and flip-flops into the closet to make room for the hottest shoes of the fall season. This autumn, it’s all about edginess and urban cool—shockingly high stilettos, rock-n-roll studs, and peep-toe booties. Whether you buy one pair of shoes or twenty, start saving your pennies to add these must-have trends to your fall wardrobe.

Over-the-knee boots. Back during fashion week, the runways lit up in a wave of models donning ultra-high boots. Now, the over-the-knee boot has become the “it” shoe of the season and comes in a variety of colors and materials. You can pair this versatile shoe with leggings, skinny jeans, or a mini-skirt.

Sky-high platform pumps. We’re not just talking tall here—we’re talking 4-inch, 5-inch, and even 6-inch heels. Perhaps not the most practical of shoes, sky-high platform pumps are nevertheless a popular trend for the autumn months. These killer shoes can be dressed down with jeans or glammed up with a mini-dress for bar-hopping and clubbing. Be careful though: these shoes are not for the faint of heart! Studded flats. Another trendy look for fall is the ballet flat rocked out with metal studs. Studded flats can add an edge to any outfit and they look great with nearly everything—skirts, jeans, dresses, leggings, etc. Plus, they’re comfortable too, which makes them a practical option for running errands or just hanging out. If you think studded flats are a bit too edgy for your tastes, then try on a pair with only a few decorative studs. You may just change your mind about them.

Peep-toe booties. Ankle booties have returned with a vengeance this fall season, but this time they come armed with a peep toe. Celebrities like Beyonce, Rihanna, and Victoria Beckham have already been spotted sporting these trendy shoes around town. Peep-toe booties look their best with a short dress or mini-skirt, but they can also be worn with leggings or skinny jeans. To make your booties shine, wear them over a cute pair of colored tights, which are another must-have for fall.
