Don’t pack away those sundresses and mini-skirts just yet. There are a ton of ways to wear your summer wardrobe well into the fall.

With the weather cooling down outside, it’s time to hang up your bathing suit and beach towels. But you don’t have to pack away your sundresses and mini-skirts just yet. This fall, you can easily stretch your wardrobe by turning summer staples into autumn delights. Here are three warm-weather classics that can effortlessly transition into the fall.

1. The sundress. A flowy, bright-colored sundress is a must-have staple in the summertime—but you can wear it into the fall with the right pieces and accessories. In order to “autumnal-ize” a sundress, layer it with a long cardigan and cinch it at the waist with a fun belt. To keep your legs warm, pull on a pair of colored or patterned tights that are all the rage this fall. Choose a pair of heeled knee-high boots to complete the look.

2. The mini-skirt. In the summer, the mini-skirt is a great way to show off your legs and to cool off in the unending heat. Now in the fall, you can transition your mini-skirt by pairing it with black leggings and comfy ballet flats. Don’t know what to wear on top? Try a fitted tank with a snug bomber jacket. You can throw in a pashmina scarf if the weather gets extra chilly.

3. Peep-toe pumps. Hosiery and tights are huge staples this fall season, which means you can wear your peep-toe pumps well into the winter months. To pull of this looks, pair your pumps with some opaque tights—choose a subtle shade for the workplace and a bright hue for a night out on the town. Top off the look with a long tunic or a sweater dress.

And remember, try to have fun! The key to transitioning your wardrobe is to mix and match styles until you find something you love. Also, don’t be afraid to try something new—that pair of purple tights or lace leggings could be just what you need to take your summer look into the fall.

Hi Caroline. I love your advice on how to incorporate my flirty summer wardrobe into the fall scene. I hate covering up my tan before it’s faded. Fabulous shoes. I have similar pumps and never thought to put them with a summer wardrobe. I tried my peep toe pumps with my lace thigh highs and they rocked! Thanks!
