<p>To understand Anthony Hooks, you must first dive into his background. He is a Houston Texas native, born and raised. In high school, Anthony excelled in athletics, but his true passion was art. He tried to attend college on a sports scholarship. After numerous attempts, Anthony decided to skip athletics and take a different career path. His family encouraged him to pursue art because as a child he was always drawing He was accepted to the Art Institute of Houston, and mastered the media and animation program.</p>

<p>Anthony Hooks is on the fast track to becoming an icon in the world of 3d art. His art is an array of technological features, mixed with beautiful photography. When asked to describe his style, he states “<em>I just create what I’m feeling, music creates my work</em>”. Upon first glance, you could tell lots of emotion went into his work. Anthony’s photos have clear creative focus. There’s an undeniable energy to his work; it grabs the viewers’ attention instantly.  The subjects of his photos can vary, from sexy models, animals, and even landscapes.  Anthony’s art has been featured in numerous magazines. In 2007- 2009, he was featured in <strong>Digital Arts magazine</strong>, and <strong>Miami Magazine</strong> (the fashion magazine). His artwork continues to gain popularity in the art industry.</p>
<p>Aside from working with marketing firms on various projects, Anthony does independent work too. He owns a fashion collection called <strong><a href="http://www.genuine-by-anthony.com/">Genuine</a></strong>. He applies unique digital designs to tee shirts for both men and women. He also has a blog with up to date industry news, and connections to all things&#8230; Anthony.</p>

Our workouts are vigorous, our diets are extreme and our beauty regimens&#8230; <a href="http://www.hallgold.com/toxic-chemical-ingredients-directory.htm" target="_blank">toxic</a>. Yep. And I didn&#8217;t even know <a href="http://www.nrdc.org/health/toxics.asp?gclid=CL7nzdnk8akCFYoP2godvS2FZg" target="_blank">it</a>. You probably don&#8217;t either.</p>
<p>Notice lately the &#8216;going-Green&#8217; twist more and more cosmetic companies are using in their marketing? It&#8217;s hitting home for them how aware the Facebook generation actually is. That, combined with the growing popularity of ridding your personal &amp; home care products of non-Earth-Friendly chemicals, has pushed them to put this &#8216;green&#8217; spin on things. But natural alternatives have always been available to us, they just aren&#8217;t commercialized as heavily as top brands like Neutrogena or L&#8217;Oreal.</p>
<p style="text-align: left">It became so clear to me&#8230; Beauty school. Skincare Course. The year was 2005. Throughout our studies, my teacher always stressed the importance of knowing your product&#8217;s ingredients. I didn&#8217;t have a thorough understanding of why&#8230;until looking up each individual ingredient manually.</p>
<p>Products from my <strong>old</strong> beauty regimen contained some of, if not all, toxic ingredients.( <em>FYI:</em> I used REVLON ColorStay foundation, ALMAY concealer, COVERGIRL loose powder, and MAYBELLINE mascara ) Google your own cosmetic&#8217;s ingredients, or find them <a title="look up" href="http://www.purezing.com/living/toxins/living_toxins_dangerousingredients.html" target="_blank">here</a>. Some have been linked to <span style="text-decoration: underline">serious</span> long term health conditions &amp; damage to the body&#8217;s organs and tissues. I was stunned at my findings!</p>
<p style="text-align: left">This was the  beginning of a personal quest (not so personal now since  I&#8217;m sharing it  with you, ha ha) to find an All-natural, organic, or mineral brand of make-up. The brands I&#8217;ve shown on the video snippet below are  some of the  options out there which can be alternatives to unknowingly toxic  make-up &amp; beauty products. <p>Better yet, I also serendipitously got in contact with<strong> Marcie Lakin</strong>, a local to Miami and professional <a title="MUA info" href="http://www.peacelovemakeup.com/#!__about-marcie" target="_blank">Make Up Artist</a> who walks-the-walk and talks-the-talk on being Earth-friendly in beautification. Here are a few tidbits to look over to get even further insight:</p>
<p>Q1: What was the catalyst in making you stray away from using non-green<br />
top name Brands on yourself and clients?<br />

I would say it was a journey. I have always been interested in what makes a<br />
healthy mind and body, yet I was a makeup artist in the fashion industry; an<br />
industry not known for attention to purity. There was a paradox in my life. I started<br />
first by using greener cleaning products in my home, when my 6 yr. old daughter<br />
was small and crawling. I did not want her to ingest dangerous toxins.<br />
It made sense then, if skin is the largest organ and absorbing what we use on, it<br />
was important to use products that made us healthier as opposed to sicker. The<br />

I think the biggest misconception is that it that it is not fashion forward (that it’s a<br />
hippie thing) or does not work as well. Some of the textures are bit different than<br />
what we are used to, but once you try them out you find that applying them is<br />
quite easy. I love Mineral Makeups, such as Alima Pure. I find the texture on the<br />
skin to be nicer than most liquid or cream makeups I have used, especially at the<br />
end of the day. It adheres to your skin, making it look creamy &amp; smooth, even<br />
after perspiration. There is no creasing, such as you have with traditional<br />
makeup. A few brands such as Revolution Organics have gorgeous &amp; convenient<br />
multi-use sticks. Their Freedom Glow Beauty Balm contains yummy ingredients<br />

Usually most eco-brands have that soft colored, meadow-y  fluff theme marketing. Not Dear Earth. It&#8217;s edgy, makes a  statement, yet is unpretentious, and lovely. Elements used for the production of their items are: 100% organic cotton, bamboo, hemp,  peace silk, soy, and other recycled/re-purposed fabric.</p>
<p>After making a recent connection with Designer &amp; Founder Daniele Moore, I knew I had to dig a little deeper when I saw the words  &#8216;Organic&#8217; and &#8216;Earth&#8217; on her profile. Those of you who know me, know I always look to promote &amp; support any /Go Green/ cause. In their own words, this Philadelphia/Miami based brand is an “Organic, Sustainable, Eco-fabolous Apparel made from the finest fibers of our Earth.”</p>

The Dear Earth girl likes to  be comfortable while looking put together. She is a conscious shopper,  that is willing to search a little more for something original and  meaningful. <div><em>That  is tough to answer because we have not compared ourselves or modeled  Dear Earth after any other eco-brands, or, regular brand for that  matter. The inspiration is original, and a huge part of that inspiration  is our amazing Earth so the eco-factor is really just a natural part of  it(no pun intended:)) . From  choosing fabrics and designing a graphic, to working with sewers and  planning a photo shoot, it is a meaningful process. Every step is  important and why I think we are in love with every piece. Dear Earth is  original and high-quality and since this is what inspires every design,  we plan to stay that way.</em></div>

<div>3) <strong>When &#8230; did you decide to take your<em> idea</em> to the next level, and make an actual brand?</strong></div>

<div><em><span style="color: #000000">I  was mostly making clothes for friends and clients and they would  regularly say that they wished they could find more things like it or  that they wished they could dress this way all of the time. I also  noticed people&#8217;s reactions to the amazing fabrics. Their appreciation  that the super soft and silky tee they liked was made of soybean was as  great as mine. I really enjoyed sharing this and wanted to do it more.</span></em></div>

<p>People from all over the world flock to Miami beaches in search of fun, sun, and shopping.  People are starving for unique style.  South beach is the go to spot for any shopping excursion. Among the many boutiques, there is one that infuses Brazilian flare in sexy swimwear. The boutique is called Kariza, named after the owner Kariza Fernandez. Her collection has received great reviews from critics as well as resident shoppers.</p>

<p>Kariza’s career began as a native in her home country Brazil. With Carnival and sandy beaches, she had plenty of inspiration. She went to college in Brazil,  then moved to America to pursue her dreams. She chose  Miami because of its energetic fashion scene. Both Miami and Brazil have a similar social vibes. Kariza&#8217;s headquarters is based on South Beach.</p>

<p>Kariza designs are well known for their innovative wrap dress that can be worn over one hundred different ways. The boutique has lots to offer in terms of beachwear. The <strong>Braided Buenos Aires Batik Bandeau</strong> is a two piece bikini that’s been sold in the Victoria Secret Catalog. Within one week, it completely sold out! Karizas swimwear is stylish and comfortable. The colors coordinate nicely, so mixing and matching creates an even trendier look.</p>
<p>Kariza boutique has a Brazilian styled interior. The colors are  inviting, and the white walls showcase the clothing nicely. The  lighting  has a soft glow, which makes the jewelry  sparkle beautifully  .  Kariza understands fashion marketing as well as design. On Fridays,  she hosts mixers for customers to enhance their shopping experience. The  atmosphere and the clothing both give great quality.</p>
<p>The boutique also sells accessories. They offer waterproof sandals that come with colorful interchangeable straps. There are also hats and bags available. The hat folds conveniently in a purse or beach bag. Kariza creates versatility in her collection, so her items are always current. She works hard to create new ideas in fashion. In the future, Kariza will be offering her fashions online. This is a great opportunity for customers outside of Miami to look great even poolside.</p>

<p>Gold Saturn is easy to love. Bright colors, cheeky designs, and bold prints are what attract a carefree audience to Acosta’s aesthetic. “Every collection starts off with a story, and develops from there,” he explains. Highly influenced by his home base Acosta finds himself enthused by Miami Beach’s art deco patterns and graphics. His creative process extends much more than eye-catching designs there is also an overwhelming feeling of sass to Gold Saturn. Tee’s poking fun such as the best selling “Prescription for Peace” tee or the “POTHEAD” tee leave us wandering what he is referencing. Whether we get it or not, it is obvious that he his doing things right.</p>

<p>Still asking yourself what is Gold Saturn?&#8230; is it a 5th dimensional planet light-years ahead of fashion? Although it seems that way with it’s edgy turband’s, as seen on celebrities such as Courtney Kardashian, it actually has much more organic beginnings. “Gold Saturn was named after my first car, a Gold Saturn,” tells Acosta. “It was a huge clunker but me and my friends had the time of our lives in that ride,” he says. Feelings of rebellion, freedom, and youth paired with some creative boredom has brought Acosta a long way, “I was working retail and I started selling my tees in the shop, more as a favor to the owners. It pretty much started from there.”</p>

<p>Gold Saturn has definitely gotten the acknowledgement it deserves, but how will G.S keep things rolling and handle future bumps in the road? “The biggest challenge so far in the growth of Gold Saturn is keeping it new and fresh,” Acosta explains. “The designing is the easy part, that takes about 5% of my time, unfortunately.” With their growing popularity Gold Saturn does not need to worry any time soon, in fact Acosta is eager to develop Gold Saturn as a lifestyle brand. “I want to branch out from the tees and tanks, and do bottoms, leggings, shorts, sweatpants, etc,” he tells us. “It’s all about being comfortable and cheeky.”  Hot colors for Fall 2011?&#8230;“Burgundy, grey, cherry red, and nude with a pop of color.”</p>

<p>For aspiring future designers the man behind the brand has real life advice to share. “Take web design classes and learn how to build your own online site with a shop, lookbook, etc,” he suggests. “Learning web design and photography can save you lots of money.”</p>
<p>Acosta, who looks up to designers such as Marc Jacobs, Diane von Furstenberg, Alexander Wang, and Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, has the right type of attitude for this industry. “I&#8217;ve been working since I was 13 and have had every job in the book. I learned at a young age that I don&#8217;t want to work for anyone else other than myself,” he explains.</p>
<p>Before we said goodbye we asked Acosta to share his top musicians of the moment with our readers. “My favorite musicians are Dragonette, The Pretty Reckless, Kylie Minogue, Britney and Gaga.” Like his designs, his music selection is not only girly but also quite edgy.<br />

Each course will be accompanied with a different wine pairing to further compliment the dish.</p>
