The Adventure Design by Eugene Jones runway show featured vibrant colored swimwear. It was presented at the Bass Museum of Art as part of Funkshion Fashion Week in Miami Beach. Funkshion is an annual week of runway shows, events and parties showcasing both established fashion designers and emerging talents.

Swimwear at the show was youthful and sexy and bared lots of skin. The look was urban chic meets surfer girl, with bold neon colors, animal and tattoo-inspired prints and accents of bling. The line featured barely-there low-cut string bikinis and deep v-necked one pieces with cutaway sides.

Adventure Design swimwear is a colorful and youthful way to turn heads at the beach this Spring, but a word of caution….arm yourself with plenty of sunblock and manblock!

Fragolina Pompadour’s Spring 2010 line of swimsuits walked the runway at the Setai Hotel last night as part of Funkshion Fahion Week in Miami Beach. Funkshion is an annual week of runway shows, events and parties showcasing both established fashion designers and emerging talents.

The glam collection mixed Palm Beach chic with 50′s pin-up girl sexiness. High waists, bright solids and animal prints gave the collection a vintage feel with an updated twist. The genius of the collection was in the surprises – a simple one-piece was transformed by a large sailor-collar backing, simple bandeau tops were paired with frilly bottoms reminiscent of little-girl rumba panties and bikinis were transformed by large bow details and lingerie finishing.

The Fragolina Pompadour Spring 2010 line featured flattering shapes that pay tribute to classic Palm Beach style with little surprises to tease and please and will easily make the transition from runway to your yacht gangway.

Nicole Miller still rules the runway at Funkshion Fashion Week
Fashion icon Nicole Miller proved that she’s still at the top of the fashion game at her Spring 2010 runway show at The Bass Museum of Art in Miami Beach as part of Funkshion Fashion Week. Funkshion is an annual week of runway shows, events and parties showcasing both established fashion designers and emerging talents.

Ms. Miller’s much anticipated show featured wearable instant classics in rich jewel tones and neutrals. Ms. Miller’s cocktail dressed were impeccable and instant classics. Deep v-necks, ruching and spaghetti straps invoked an evening of smart cocktails and clever conversation. Separates and day wear had a hand painted watercolor feel to them, making them feminine and flirty.

Though she has become known for her classic women’s wear, Ms. Miller hasn’t forgotten what put her name on the fashion map and she closed the show with two male models wearing nothing but trunks and the ties she became famous for in the 80′s.

Abi Ferrin Runway Show at Funkshion Miami Beach features colorful wearable creations.
Dallas based Abi Ferrin’s Spring 2010 line, entitled Genesis, is a vibrant collection of colorful swimsuits, dresses and separates that are sexy, touchable and oh-so wearable. It was presented at the Bass Museum of Art as part of Funkshion Fashion Week in Miami Beach. Funkshion is an annual week of runway shows, events and parties showcasing both established fashion designers and emerging talents.

The socially and ecology conscious Ferrin started her show with a video showing her trip to Costa Rica to get inspiration for her Spring 2010 line. Ms. Ferrin is seen visiting the Costa Rican rainforests and beaches and talking with local seamstresses who will be working on her line. Helping to bring awareness and economic stimulus to Costa Rica is Ms. Ferrin’s goal.

The line itself does certainly reflect the beauty of the rain forest and Central American influences. Ms. Ferrin utilizes silk and crepe fabrics in her collection with tribal-inspired beads and headbands. The color palate consists of the brightest and most vibrant blues, purples and greens mixed with earth tones of brown and beige. Body hugging skirts and leggings combined with flowing dresses and tunics were both sexy and romantic.

The show stopping finale was a billowing silk caftan gown in a rainbow of colors. There were audible gasps of excitement at that piece, which looked like a technicolor dream floating down the runway.

All in all, Abi Ferrin’s Spring 2010 collection is classic, sexy color with a conscience.

Funkshion Red Dress Fashion Show Benefits American Heart Association

“Go Red” was the theme of the evening at the Red Dress Fashion Show to benefit the American Heart Association at the Setai Hotel in South Beach as part of Funkshion Fashion Week. Funkshion is an annual week of runway shows, events and parties showcasing both established fashion designers and emerging talents.

The Red Dress Fashion show featured red dresses by iconic designers such as Nicole Miller (who was at the event) and Marchesa, worn by local celebrities, power brokers and heart disease survivors. Local celebrities strutting down the runway included Kristina Campins from Miami Social and The Apprentice, Anchel from America’s Next Top Model Cycle 7, Miss Florida USA 2009, Anastagia Pierre and Telemundo legend María Celeste Arrarás. The show also featured a special mini-show of red swimwear by apparel giant Janzten to celebrate it’s 100th birthday. Piaget Diamonds and Motives Cosmetics by Loren Ridinger provided the jewelry and makeup so all the models were at their most beautiful and bedazzled.

Heart disease is the number one killer of women over the age of 25 – more than cancer, so this show is an important component of the American Heart Association’s campaign to “Go Red” to raise awareness and prevention of heart diesase in women. Funds raised from the show will help Go Red for Women community programs and fund research in the field of cardiology.

A*Muse Designer Richie Rich Launches New Nail Polish Line at Funkshion Fashion Week

Former club kid turned fashion designer, Richie Rich unveiled his new nail polish line at the Townhouse Hotel in South Beach today. The event was part of South Beach’s 13th annual Funkshion Fashion Week, an eclectic mix of fashion shows, parties and happenings that highlight both established fashion icons and emerging talent.

The nail polish line, entitled Runway, was previewed at the rooftop of the Townhouse Hotel in South Beach and is scheduled to launch early 2010. “Nail polish is social for both boys and girls, plus it’s an excuse to have a cocktail party”, Rich said. Runway polish will be available in a rainbow of hues ranging from neutral to vibrant. Colors include Pammy Pink (a hot pink named after Rich’s muse, Pamela Anderson), Hot Sexy Nude, Bionic (neon pink) and Rhoosk (exotic neon purple).

Rich wouldn’t reveal where Runway nail polish will be available, but he did share that it will be “out and about” and at an extremely affordable price-point. With these great colors and an affordable price, fashion forward nails will be hankering for the entire Runway rainbow.

Pamela Anderson rocks the runway at the A*Muse fashion show in South Beach

Last night was the official start of Funkshion Fashion Week in South Beach. Funkshion is an alternative fashion week, consisting of a fabulous blend of established designers (Nicole Miller) and emerging talent.

Last evening was the launch of the 2010 Spring line of A*Muse fashions, the new line by former club kid and partner in Heatherette.
A*Muse is a brand described as an animal-friendly, organic line, consisting of bathing suits and designer printed t-shirts and features images of Anderson and designer Richie Rich.

The A*Muse line is full of energy, as was the show. Models walked the runway at the courtyard of the star-studded Setai Hotel as 80′s music set the scene. The fashions consisted of trendy tees and tanks combined with bejeweled panties for the girls and body hugging shorts with bare chests wrapped in yellow crime scene tape for the guys.

The grand finale was Ms. Pam Anderson herself, wearing a Baywatch-inspired red swimsuit and yellow caution tape, holding a Ronald McDonald mask, an homage to the current PETA campaign to try to get McDonald’s to incorporate more humane treatment of chickens from their suppliers. Ms. Anderson, looking amazing, strutted and vamped her way along the catwalk before Richie Rich himself joined her for the final sashay.

All in all, a high-spirited evening and a promising youthful new line for A*Muse. They’re one to watch.
