The opportunity for a beginning model is South Florida to win a photo shoot including hair, makeup and wardrobe, a consultation with LaShawnna Stanley, founder of Ethnicity Models, a Total Tote modeling kit provided by DunStr and a feature on FASHIFY.com.

From Monday, June 7, 2010 through Wednesday, June 23, 2010, Backstage Miami Style Studio will be promoting by means of websites, online flyers and social networking sites, the opportunity to submit entries to win a grand prize as detailed above.
Print, radio or online advertising may also be used to promote the giveaway.

The contest begins Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 6:00 a.m. ET and ends Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at 11:59 p.m. ET.
All entries must be submitted and received within this time period.
Any entries not received within this time period will be disqualified.
The contest winner will be announced Monday, June 28, 2010.
The winner will be notified via email and telephone and will have 48hrs to claim prizes.

ELIGIBILITY
In order to enter, you must be between the age of 18 and 25 and reside in South Florida (Dade, Broward or Palm Beach County).  Any individuals (including but not limited to employees, consultants, independent contractors, and interns) who have, within the past six months, performed services for Backstage Miami Style Studio or any organizations responsible for sponsoring, fulfilling, administering, advertising or promoting the contest or supplying the prize,
and/or their respective parent, subsidiary, affiliated and successor companies, and immediate family and household members
of such individuals, are not eligible to enter. “Immediate family members” shall mean parents, stepparents,
children, stepchildren, siblings, step siblings, or spouses. “Household members” shall mean people who share the same
residence at least three months in one calendar year.

The Grand Prize winner will be selected in a random drawing conducted from all qualified entries on or about
June 28, 2010 . In the event that the original Grand Prize winner does not meet Official Rules or eligibility
requirements, or he/she or parent or legal guardian forfeits the Grand Prize, Backstage Miami Style Studio will award prize to
first alternate. Process will continue until Grand Prize is awarded

Celebrity stylist Adrene Ashford will host “Adrene in Wonderland, an alternate universe where fantasy meets the runway” to celebrate the grand opening for her latest venture, House of Adrene, on Tuesday May 25th at 7pm at the location for her newest boutique, 246 Peters St., Atlanta, GA 30303-2122.

“I want House of Adrene to be a platform for new designers. Atlanta has long been a trendsetter in entertainment and most recently become a hot spot on the fashion radar. My goal is for “Adrene in Wonderland” and House of Adrene to be viewed as a type of fashion adventure,” the infamous stylista says of the upcoming show. The fashion forward, heavily themed show was inspired by Adrene’s favorite fairytale Alice in Wonderland.

Since bursting onto the fashion scene, Adrene has worked with some of the biggest stars in the industry; divas like Vivica Fox, Taraj Henson, Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Rowland and Ciara along with male clients like Hill Harper, Terrell Owens and the King of the South himself T.I. “I love working with new clients because it challenges me and takes my creativity to new heights,” she says when asked about her favorite celebrity muse.

A jetsetter, Adrene splits her time between her current home in Atlanta, her native LA, and fashion-forward NY and Europe. Her unique interpretations of fashion have taken her to countless Grammys, Oscars, MTV awards and along with music videos, fashion editorials and film projects. In addition to her work with clients and as boutique owner, Adrene recently added fashion editor to her list of titles. The position with Hope Today magazine provides her with an opportunity to speak to the everyday woman, who may not be able to make it to Hotlanta to visit House of Adrene.

The grand opening of House of Adrene kicks off a celebratory tribute of ten fashion-filled years for Adrene. With its Castleberry Hill location, framed fashion, ultra luxe mannequins, varied art displays and a full runway as the focal point of the boutique, House of Adrene is often mistaken for an art gallery, but Adrene’s patrons are used to her over the top approach to fashion. Known and respected for her use of colors, energy and edge, Adrene often says she provides her clientele with a shot of “adrene-a-line” in order to bring out their inner rockstar on red carpets, black-tie events, along with TV and film projects.

Each student has been paired with a media personality, including Q100’s Jenn Hobby; Fox 5‘s Justin Gray; Jessica Shops’ Jessica Dauler; The Atlanta Journal Constitution’s Jamie Gumbrecht; WSB-TV’s Linda Stouffer; and CBS Atlanta’s Jennifer Valdez.

The students are conducting individual style consultations to create inspired versions of the quintessential spring ensemble for their media celebrity partners and pooches. The final reveal of the collaborative designs will take place Friday, April 30 at 7:30 p.m. during an exclusive show at Lenox Square: Simon Fashion Bow Wow. Critiquing the design competition will be a panel of well-known fashion judges including Project Runway’s Anthony Williams; Life & Food Editor for the Sunday Paper, Kirsten Palladino; Dave FM’s Mara Davis; and Peach Buzz columnist and blogger Jennifer Brett.

What: Simon Fashion Bow Wow, a highlight of the Simon Fashion Now weekend April 30 – May 1, will also feature a Silent Auction benefitting Atlanta Pet Rescue on Friday from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. Shoppers can bid on items before and during the Simon Fashion Bow Wow fashion show.

Simon Fashion Now events begin at Lenox Square with Trends and Friends Night on Friday, April 30 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. in the Neiman Marcus Wing. A series of fashion shows begin at 7:00pm in front of Macy’s, including Simon Fashion Bow Wow at 7:30 p.m. Simon Fashion Bow Wow is a design competition where adoptable dogs from Atlanta Pet Rescue will take the stage with local celebrities, each modeling spring clothing designed by fashion design students from Bauder College. In addition, shoppers will be able to participate in a raffle benefitting Atlanta Pet Rescue.

Shoppers can expect to see an abundance of styles for men and women ranging from casual weekend wear and stylish outfits for the office, to show-stopping looks for a night on the town. The public will be able to view runway shows rivaling major fashion industry show productions. Yet unlike the industry shows that preview styles unavailable for several months, Simon Fashion Now makes the hottest men’s and women’s fashions of the season accessible; every look from the runway can be immediately found at retailers within the mall. The shows will introduce looks from BCBGMAXAZRIA, bebe, Ed Hardy, French Connection, Metropark, Miss Sixty/Energie, 7 For All Mankind, Steve Madden and True Religion Brand Jeans.

Simon Fashion Now continues Saturday, May 1 with shows at 12 p.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m., 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. and will feature Style Stops throughout the mall. In addition to the runway shows, fashion and beauty experts will offer advice and insight into this spring’s cosmetic trends, highlight the must-have accessories of the season, and offer tips on updating a wardrobe without breaking the bank. Participating retailers include Bloomingdale’s and Macy’s as well as Ann Taylor, Anthropologie, Arden B., babyGap/GapKids, Banana Republic, Brahmin, Brooks Brothers, Caché, Club Monaco, Destination Maternity, Façonnable, GAP, GUESS, Gymboree, The Limited, Mori Luggage, Nicole Miller, PH8 and Swim N’ Sport. Also on Saturday will be a fashion show featuring clothing and accessories from retailers at Phipps Plaza. Participating stores include Belk, Nordstrom, Anne Fontaine, Barneys New York CO-OP, Cole Haan, Elie Tahari, Tommy Bahama, Tory Burch and United Colors of Benetton. Runway make-up will be provided by Sephora and model hair styled by Sassoon Salon. In addition, model participants will include Season 6 “Project Runway Models of the Runway” winner Kalyn Hemphill.

The fashion industry has not escaped the financial melee of the down economy. Many models have noticed that fewer opportunities are being made available in markets such as New York, Miami, Los Angeles. And as a result casting directors, advertisers, clothing lines, boutiques, even photographers, and makeup artists only want to work with the best models, with the best attitudes. These gatekeepers of fashion jobs can either hire or decline a model’s submission based on whether they fit into these two categories: Wanna-be Model or Gonna-Be Model.

Who would be considered a Wannabe Model?

With reality TV shows like America’s Next Top Model (ANTM), Project Runway, Make Me a Model, Keeping up with The Kardashians, and Kell on Earth promoting the excitement and spoils of the fashion industry, it makes sense that impressionable minds would want to follow in that world of designer clothes, runways, and casting calls. However, these people often times aren’t willing to do what it takes to follow this dream to the fullest, putting themselves in the class of Model Wanna-bes.

If you fit these descriptions, you’re a certified Wanna-beModel/Actor/Actress:

• Modeling is not your job. It is your hobby.
• You don’t treat every gig/shoot with the same respect as a paid one. Losing a possibly large opportunity and burning bridges in the process, wasting production’s time when you no-show.
• You are scatter-brained and nonchalant in your communication.

Bottom-line: People remember you in a negative light. Depending if you do this enough times, you are “black-balled” in a way. You can never assume who-know-who.When your name is brought up or you are seen at an industry event

Who would be considered a Gonna-Be Model?

Having natural talent, good looks, and a pleasant personality is helpful, but success in the fashion & talent industry requires much more. You have to be determined, and you have to be professional. You’ll need to know your limitations and work with people that provide constructive criticism so that you are aware of those limitations.

If you fit these descriptions, you’re a certified Gonna-be Model/Actor/Actress:

• You put every ounce of your being into researching possible job opportunities online, networking, word-of-mouth, and sharpening your skill in any and every way you find available to you.
• You treat every gig/shoot with the same respect as a paid one.
• You read instructions and details. Your communication is also clear and concise.
• You are on time, make the necessary preparation for every casting, every photo shoot, and video shoot.

Bottom-line: People remember you in a positive light, and even sometimes give you referrals because of your work ethic.
