Brickell Fashion Week

In a city that is known for their Art Deco building’s, year round sunny beaches, and unique fashion it only make’s sense that Brickell would have their own fashion week. Not scheduled until the end of April, Brickell fashion week is already looking for designer’s from local boutiques and retail owner’s. However what makes Brickell Fashion Week unique from Miami Beach or Funkshion Fashion Week is that it is giving back to the community by including South Florida’s inspiring fashion student’s in a slot on the runway.

If you are a designer and interested in showing at Brickell Fashion Week can email Designers@Brickellfashionweek.com for a registration request form. Be sure to do it soon as the deadline date is February 29th. Once approved, designers must provide a short bio and a picture of themselves. Designers must also provide four pictures from their collection of choice. All designers must submit pictures before registration is complete.

This upscale, annual event is sure to bring in a large variety of local boutique owner’s, retailer’s, artist’s, student’s, and tourist’s, and definitely not an event to miss.

When it comes to good photographers they are far and few, but the ones that you do find you hold onto. Photographer Xylux is definitely one of those photographers. After having ran across his work and having the chance to work with him 2 years ago I have been a huge fan and supporter of Xylux. All of his work shows a clean and sophisticated view of fashion and women. With the use of color saturation and a good makeup and styling team Xylux has made himself one of South Florida’s most wanted photographers.

For the holiday season Xylux with his makeup and hair team by Lucianne and wardrobe by Lawnette Lucille have created a stunning, moody, and glamorous editorial that makes one want to spend their own holiday break in furs, reptile scale makeup, and ornate jewelry. Casa De Rosa New Face Model Contest

Casa De Rosac Photography will be holding a modeling showcase to choose their new spokes model from eight already chosen finalists. The private event will be held at the 1020 Lounge on the Second Floor of the Clevelander Hotel, 1020 Ocean Drive Miami Beach, FL at 10pm. “We are very excited about this year’s finalists,” said Silvia Del Rosario, Casa De Rosa Photography’s owner and photographer. “I think I’m most excited about the wide range of nationalities represented. We have girls from Russia, Columbia, Bulgaria, Cuba, the Netherlands, Trinidad and the Bahamas, they are all absolutely gorgeous, I couldn’t have dreamed up a better group.”

The Eight finalists will compete on the runway, in swimwear and evening-wear. A three-part panel of industry experts will determine who will become the company’s next spokesmodel. Last year’s winner, Caitlain Jarvis, will also be in attendance. She was only 15 years old when she was chosen as Casa De Rosa’s spokesmodel. “It has opened up so many doors for me. It was such a great experience to work with Silvia.” The contest had contestants enter online at www.cdrosa.com with three photographs and their measurements. There was a wide range of contestants from professional to inexperienced models. The winner’s prize package includes $2500 in sponsored gifts and a possible professional modeling contract from REVATI Marketing Group’s Entertainment Division.

Although the actual event is by invitation only, the 1020 Lounge will be hosting an after party that is open to the public immediately following.

Art Miami, Miami’s longest running contemporary art fair, will once again captivate the city from November 29th-December 4tt, 2011 with a collection of contemporary significant art work from all around the world. As the anchor fair to the City of Miami, the Art Miami will return with a compelling array of modern and contemporary art work from the 20th and 21st centuries. The fair will be held in a state-of-the-art 125,000-square-foot pavilion in Midtown Miamis burgeoning Wynwood Art’s District. The fair has grown to include over 110 galleries from 18 countries, and will showcase 1,000 artists from 60 countries around the world. From the United States, 400 artists will be shown from nearly 100 cities. The fair will include modern and contemporary paintings, sculptures, drawings, photography and prints from Europe, Asia, Latin America, India, the Middle East and the United States.

Among this years highlights are two curated exhibitions in art video and sculpture from independent curator for Art Miami, Julia Draganovic. The Persol Art Video Exhibition titled “ZOOM! Decoding Common Practice” features six thought provoking videos that reveal a glimpse beyond the ordinary and discover the precariousness of the stabilities that communities try to maintain. Among the videos, on loan from renowned private collections and prominent art institutions worldwide, will be art world power player Ai Weiwei’s long video, Chang’an Boulevard, courtesy of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio Modena. Draganovic has also curated a special sculpture exhibit that will feature 20 stunning pieces including three major modern works from Marc Chagal, Arman, and Carlos Zauli, as well as two works in progress from award winning and prominent artists Sofia Maldonado and Kaarina Kaikkonen.

Art Miami exhibtors will showcase an exceptional collection of work from major artists that spans across multiple categories. One of many high profile exhibitions will be Edelman Art booth, which will feature Saint Sebastian by Titian, one of the leading Italian Renaissance painters of his time. While not for sale, the art piece will serve as inspiration and the focal point from the Edelman Art’s entire booth display.

“The Saint Sebastian masterpiece by Titian will be the highlight of our Art Miami booth this year,” said Asher B. Edelman, owner of the Edelman Art’s Inc. “It is such a significant piece, we’re excited to unveil it at Art Miami. The Titian oil painting will be nicely complemented by more contemporary Saint Sebastian works by Andreas Serrano, Christopher Winter, Yasmine Chatila, Cathy McClure, Mapplethorpe and many others.”

ACA (American Contemporary Artists) will host an extensive exhibition of Theodores Stamos, the youngest member of the first generation of Abstract Expressionists. The show will include Stamos’ work from the 1940′s to the 1980′s demonstrating how Stamos used the natural world as a source of inspiration throughout his career, contributing to his development as an artist.
