Stylists (including Dee from the Bravo reality series Shear Genius), nail techs and massage therapists donated their time and over 175 women came out to participate, getting a fashionable cut by a top stylist for only $15.

In 2006 Sherri Martens, owner of Elite Beauty Supple in Miami, lost her mother to breast cancer. Linda Martins, partner of Elite has battled breast cancer for a year, enduring a mastectomy, radiation and chemotherapy before succumbing to the disease.

Sherri wanted to do something to honor her mother’s battle with breast cancer so she set about to raise money and awareness for Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Through grassroots fundraising events, such as last Sunday’s Cut for the Cure, Sherri raised an incredible $71,554 in 2008. Sunday’s event was hosted at Elite Salon Systems and other salons throughout Florida.  Stylists (including Dee from the Bravo reality series Shear Genius), nail techs and massage therapists donated their time and over 175 women came out to participate, getting a fashionable cut by a top stylist for only $15.  Manicures and massages were also offered for a $15 donation. All proceeds benefited Susan G. For The Cure.

Breast cancer affects 1 in 7 women but luckily early detection is a key factor in a positive outcome.  Events like Cut for the Cure help raise awaress and funds for breast cancer and allow women to participate in a fun, stylish way to do good for their community.
